You can’t expect a lot from the Bulgarian gay life, but there are still some places to explore. Better stick to a local guy who can take you around. If you can’t find anyone willing to do so, here are a few recommendations where you can go out, dance, dine or relax.

One To One

Recently opened and the newest addition to the gay night scene. Nice ambiance, good selection of music and younger guys in general.

ID Club

Why not?

Tell Me Bar

Not gay, but worth checking out

Address: 12 Ivan Vazov str.

Opens Thursday to Saturday 19:00 – 05:00

Address: Ul. Knyaz Boris I, 39 at Platform B

Exhibition place, store, bar, club by the artists Voin De Voin and Parsifal Marin.

It’s also advisable to follow the new and trendy places in town. Sense roof top bar in the 5-stars design hotel Sense hotel is recommended. It offers the best view over the city and is visited by gay guys, but it’s not openly gay friendly. Places like Culture beat and Yalta club also attract gay visitors and are a better alternative. In general – don’t stick to the “gay” venues only, but instead go out exploring with your grindr on and hopefully magic will happen.

Sense roof top Bar

Taragon gay sauna
A bit difficult to find and far away from the center, yet the only gay sauna in town. The capacity is 15 persons meaning you become close very fast. The sauna is clean, has a steam room for 8 persons and 2 private rooms. Better devote yourself to finding someone through the websites and grindr then loosing much of your time there.

Working time: Thursday to Sunday 16:00 to 22:00
Entrance: 10.00 leva if you have towel and flip-flops and 12.00 if you don’t

VIP Massage
Discrete massage studio in Sofia with a qualified massаge therapist from the National Sports Academy, providing as well home visits with a mobile massage couch. The massages are different kinds at low prices and can be ordered within Sofia – 24/7, on weekends, as well as on holidays, after preliminary appointment.
Address: 97 Tsar Boris III Blvd

There are no gay friendly restaurants, but some of the good choices are Motto, Spaghetti Kitchen, Lavanda, Pastorant, Pod Lipite (if you want to try traditional Bulgarian dishes), Raketa Rakia Bar, which is a restaurant actually, Checkpoint Charley (a bit sophisticated ), Supa Star for quick lunch.

And don’t forget – there are HUGE things in Eastern Europe.
